Not as cognoscible in the world as Białowieża Forest, and not as popular as Augustów Forest. Close, yet vast. Knyszyn Forest. Close, as it is located just outside the city of Białystok. Vast, as it is one of the biggest forests in Poland and it reaches the lands close to the Belarusian border. Not recognisable – its name is enumerated among the youngest names (second half of the 20th century). Knyszyn Forest, together with the origins of the river Narew, is a place within reach. Place, where big cultures and nations met. Where history is so rich and interesting that each point on the map is worth interest.
